{Wedding Wednesday} Save the Date!

2011 January 12
by Allison Blass

I wrote about save-the-dates all the way back in November, but we ended up not finalizing and printing them until December. Since we were so close to the holidays, we decided to wait until January to send them out. Of course, I wanted those receiving them to see them first, so that’s why it took a little longer than expected to get these up online.

First of all, I want to say a huge thanks to my graphic designer and SF Bridesmaid, Erica, who designed these (and will also work with me on the invitations). She is very talented and I’m so pleased with how they turn out.

I knew from looking at a lot of save-the-dates that I wanted to make sure that these were unique and personal. Since I knew they were being custom made, I didn’t want to rely too heavily on what other people have done previously. We don’t have much of a theme for the wedding, but one thing I knew we could count on was the fact that this is the first time that many of our guests are coming to Oregon (well, those who aren’t my friends from childhood). Our venue for both the ceremony and the reception will be in Oregon City. Now, you might not be familiar with most suburbs in Oregon, but Oregon City might ring a few bells. Why? Because it’s the legendary “End of the Oregon Trail.” I thought it would be fun to play up the familiarity and fondness of the Oregon Trail in the save-the-date.

Check it out!

Aren’t they cute?! On the back we have a short note with some info about our wedding website and that sort of thing. Now Erica and I are getting to work on the invitations.

In the next month, we’ll be picking out the bridesmaid dresses and doing the flowers, so there should be more wedding news coming soon!

It’s cute as long as your guests don’t get bit by a rattlesnake or contract smallpox on their way there. ;)
