Cannolis in Boston.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse, I had to go off and eat cannolis in Boston with Jeff Mather, his wife and Erik.

Jeff looks a little devious with his cannoli, doesn’t he?

I was in Boston over the weekend filming a new video segment for DiabetesMine. I sent out calls for a brunch, but with Government Day earlier that week, it kept slipping my mind. In the end, it was just the four of us and we convened for lunch near Quincy Market in the Financial District of Boston.

The night before, I had been mulling about whether or not I wanted to trek from my hotel to the North End to go to Mike’s Pastry, which is my cannoli shop of choice (the other popular haunt is Modern Pastry, which I have also been to). But it was getting cold out and after a day of filming, I decided that a hot shower and then lounging in bed sounded like a much better option.

Luckily, I didn’t have to miss out completely. Because what does a PWD like better than pastries, right? So of course, everyone was totally down with making the jaunt over the freeway to Mike’s Pastry, where we picked up our cannolis. My choice: Ricotta Florentine, which is like a regular chocolate chip cannoli, except the shell was made with peanuts so it was like eating a peanut butter cannoli. Yum! It was so rich I managed to only finish half of mine, and tried to save it for later. It ended up a little smooshed by the next day, but still delicious.

Leave the gun. Take the cannoli. (I just couldn’t resist a good Godfather quote…)
